The National Conflict Resolution Center’s signature workshop, The Theory and Practice of Mediation, gives participants a thorough understanding of conflict resolution, mediation theory, and interest based negotiation. Much more than this theoretical framework, this NCRC training is known nationally and internationally for the practical, step-by-step process that helps people learn how to mediate in a very concrete way. Learning the NCRC methodology empowers new mediators to navigate the unchartered territory of being a third party neutral. Engaging discussion, participatory exercises, short demonstrations or lectures, and plenty of practice mediating makes this course a meaningful learning experience for all participants, no matter what their background or future plans for mediation. This course transforms the way in which one looks at conflict and conflict resolution.
For the February 2021 Theory and Practice of Mediation Training, we are offering an optional, additional fifth day. While the San Diego Superior Court continues to require a 32-hour mediation training, courts in some states across the U.S. now require a 40-hour training course for mediators to be considered certified. As such, we have adjusted our curriculum and added an optional fifth day to meet this requirement. The cost for the four-day training is $1,250 and the five-day training is $1,550.
