Lisa Maxwell

Lisa Maxwell began working at the National Conflict Resolution Center (then called the San Diego Mediation Center) in 1989 as an Assistant Trainer.  She is currently the Director of the Training Institute. When she began her tenure as Director, NCRC offered three workshops (The Theory and Practice of Mediation, The ARTful Conversation, and the Exchange), which she helped develop as Senior Trainer.  Since that time, Lisa has been responsible for the design and development of all NCRC workshops offered by the Training Institute.  After extensive research and interviews with experts, Lisa takes a collaborative approach, seeking insights from trainers, staff, and those with lived experience that will inform the work.  NCRC’s most recent series (Culture, Communication and Conflict: Navigating Political Polarization in the Workplace) was designed in collaboration with the Associate Director of the Training Institute.

Additionally, she has collaborated with other international organizations to develop conflict management and resolution to programs effective for culturally diverse programs including for the U.S. Agency for International Development, the U.S. Committee and U.S. and China Relations, Universidad Iberoamericano Law School, Project Concern,  and Partners for Democratic Change.    She has designed, developed, and delivered training courses in both the continental USA and abroad, including Italy, Spain, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Argentina, Bulgaria, Germany, Japan, Mexico and Albania, to a variety of NCRC clients.
