Shawn Skillin

Ms. Skillin, is an experienced family law attorney, mediator, mediation trainer and speaker practicing in the San Diego area since 1996.  She joined the Divorce Mediation Group in 2002 and has successfully mediated hundreds of family law cases.  She also provides collaborative divorce services.  She has been appointed by the Court to represent children in high conflict divorce cases.  With her background as a critical care nurse she is adept at dealing with families in crisis.  This background, as well as her additional training in mediation, collaborative divorce, and high conflict personality theory enables her to assist mediation clients in navigating through the complex issues faced throughout the divorce process.  She became a mediator to assist divorcing couples find solutions that work for their family.  She believes mediation gives each family an opportunity to begin to learn how to work together in new and constructive ways as they reorganize their family structure.

Ms. Skillin speaks regularly on issues related to family law, mediation and high conflict personalities.  She speaks monthly at the Third Saturday Workshop presented by NCRC.  She has been a guest lecturer on mediation at the University of San Diego School of Law, San Diego Christian College and Camp Pendleton.  She has worked with Navy Family Advocacy on Domestic Violence and other legal issues related to family law.  She is a Mediation Trainer with NCRC.

Ms. Skillin is a member of the High Conflict Institute Faculty where she serves as a speaker, trainer and educational consultant.
