Jeffrey Isaacs joined the San Diego law firm of Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch in 1968. Jeff was made a partner of the firm in 1972 and continued at the firm for over 46 years until his retirement in January 2015. During his career at Procopio, Jeff was the leader of Procopio's insolvency team and specialized in bankruptcy law, creditor-debtor rights and commercial litigation. Jeff had the privilege of representing trustees, debtors, creditors and creditors' committees in some of the largest, most complex and most contentious cases in San Diego and elsewhere. This broad experience provided Jeff with the widest possible exposure and insight as to what can go wrong in virtually every type of business and why and, perhaps more importantly, how to effectively navigate the strong and often highly stressed personalities of the individuals involved. In this regard, Jeff served with distinction on the San Diego Bankruptcy Court Mediation Panel for over 25 years where he was selected as Mediator of the Year by the judges of the court in 2007.
Superior Court Ordered Civil Mediations:
- Civil Limited: $150 per hour for each of the first two hours and $400 per hour thereafter.
- Civil Unlimited: $250 per hour for each of the first two hours and $400 per hour thereafter.
$400 per hour
$175 non-refundable administrative fee.
Jeff will not charge for travel time for any mediation in Southern California.
Legal Career & Prior Experience:
In connection with Jeff's experience described in the "overview" above, Jeff had the opportunity to not only practice extensively in the bankruptcy court, the federal district court and the California superior court, but also in the California Courts of Appeal and the federal Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Through this experience, Jeff was exposed to the differing approaches and problems presented by each tribunal and how to effectively navigate them. Also, Jeff has lectured and continues to lecture at California Western Law School, USD Law School and other locations regarding bankruptcy law and oral advocacy and, since 2009, has been one of the primary coaches for teams from USD Law School at an annual national bankruptcy moot court competition in New York.
Education & Professional Affiliations:
With respect to education, Jeff obtained his law degree in 1968 at California Western School of Law where He was Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review. Jeff received his undergraduate degree from UCLA in 1962. In addition, Jeff completed the "Mediating the Litigated Case" training presented by the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law.
With respect to professional affiliations, Jeff is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the California Western School of Law, a member of the Board of Directors and a past president of the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program, a member of the Board of Directors and past president of the San Diego Bankruptcy Forum, a member of the Board of Directors and vice president of the California Metabolic Research Foundation, a former member of the Board of Directors and past vice president of the San Diego County Bar Association and a former member of the Board of Directors and past treasurer of the San Diego County Bar Foundation.

In his spare time, Jeff enjoys, skiing, hiking, spending time with family and comedy.
Jeff has been referenced frequently in the press during his career for various achievements related to his practice but, in particular, Jeff was the subject of a feature article in The San Diego Daily Transcript on October 24,2011 entitled "Attorney takes pro bono work seriously" relating to Jeff's work with the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program.
