CURRICULUM

Week One: INTRODUCTORY
Mediation Skills Training
February 10-13 (32 Hours)

This intensive 32-hour skill building course teaches NCRC’s classic six-stage facilitative mediation process through a combination of lectures, interactive exercises, and participatory simulations. NCRC’s informal but structured mediation model has been refined over 25 years of day-to-day application in a broad based mediation practice in the San Diego region as well as extensive training venues worldwide.

Class size is small in order to provide a dynamic learning environment that blends theory and practice. This training offers essential skills to anyone active in conflict resolution in both professional as well as personal settings and meets the training requirement for the NCRC mediator credential.

Week Two: ADVANCED
Mediation Skills Training
February 16-19 (32 Hours)

Learn the “tricks of the trade” from mediators highly experienced in using NCRC’s mediation model in a variety of actual cases.  This interactive course builds on skills learned in the Introductory Mediation Skills Training and introduces new techniques for dealing with impasse, ethical dilemmas, money issues, high conflict personalities, and adaptations of the facilitative model in business and legal settings

Supervised one-on-one skill development, individual coaching sessions, and feedback are provided by NCRC trainers and mentor mediators.  Videotaped simulation and critique available. This course may be applied towards partial fulfillment of the NCRC Mediator Credential curriculum.
