The revitalized organization provided major disaster relief following the devastating October wildfires.

Through an exhibit of stories and portraits called “Stripes, Stars, and Semites”, Ms. Bittar promotes mutual respect and co-existence between Arabs and Jews in San Diego. The series is based upon participants in dialogue groups organized by Ms. Bittar.
Chandani Flinn, Deputy City Attorney and Mid-City Neighborhood Prosecutor: For organizing the Mid-City Prostitution Impact Panel
The Mid-City Prostitution Impact Panel reduces prostitution in the area through monthly classes that address the far-reaching negative impact of prostitution. “Johns” are required to attend monthly panels where former prostitutes, health care workers, police officers, and community members discuss their perspectives on legal, community, and health issues.
Dr. Michael Sise, Trauma Services Medical Director and Beth Sise, Trauma Prevention Director, Scripps Mercy Hospital: For their pioneering teamwork to prevent trauma deaths
Dr. and Mrs. Sise’s work to characterize violence as a health issue and build networks between health professionals and law enforcement to strengthen gun control, suicide prevention, and substance abuse programs has prevented trauma deaths throughout the area. The Sises have also led efforts to improve communication and coordination among trauma centers on both sides of the border.
