Details: Approximately one out of two marriages will end in divorce. Yet most divorced people seek to remarry. About half of children in the United States do not live in a home with both biological, married parents. Divorce is a fact of life in our society and more people are trying to reduce the pain, harm, and cost by negotiating a divorce, rather than fighting as adversaries.

A note from Bill Eddy:
When I first developed the On-Target Parenting method in 1990, I had been a child and family therapist for ten years—a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). At that time, Barbara Silva (nee St. Amant) and I were teaching parenting classes primarily to those in recovery from substance abuse.

Since then, I have been a practicing family law attorney and mediator. My experience indicates that the same tools and encouragement of this parenting method can help parents going through a recovery process from divorce. One of the most difficult and important tasks is separating the parent's own feelings of Guilt, Anger, Helplessness, and Fear from their children's true needs. Not an easy task! The simple four-step approach of On-Target Parenting is designed to help.

Since the first printing of this manual, several hundred copies have been sold to individuals and parenting programs across the country—from the CASA Program in Newport News, VA to the Real Solutions Program in San Diego, CA. Most gratifying has been the personal stories from parents who said the manual helped them feel better about themselves, while becoming more consistent and positive with their children.

Bill Eddy also provides "Divorce Training for Family Law Professionals" at the High Conflict Institute. Please visit HCI at www.highconflictinstitute.com for more information on Mr. Eddy's trainings.
